- Aave V3 launches on Aptos testnet, marking its first non-EVM integration.
- Move-based deployment signals a shift to non-EVM ecosystems for broader adoption.
- This collaboration strengthens Aave’s liquidity reach and Aptos’ DeFi growth.
Aave V3 is now live on the Aptos testnet, marking the first time that the protocol has been launched outside of Ethereum Virtual Machine environments. This marks a new precedent for Aave to natively run on the blockchain of Aptos using the Move programming language.
It was so far available on EVM-compatible chains, including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Base, but is now available on Aptos. The move helps broaden the Aave ecosystem while attracting new users and comes with a TVL of $19.9 billion on DefiLlama.
Partnership Drives Growth for Aave and Aptos
Aave Labs teamed up with the Aptos Foundation to ensure compatibility with the non-EVM framework by Aptos and wrote the protocol in Move. Chainlink also participated and delivered production-grade price feeds that ensured better security and efficiency of transactions.
Its TVL surged from $117 million at the start of the year to over $1.8 billion by year-end. High-profile partnerships with firms like BlackRock, Bitwise, and Tether have further solidified its credibility. App community activity also thrives as Kana Labs entrenches beyond 1.06 million unique active wallets. The daily active addresses spiked to 1.2 million in early January 2025.
These milestones also symbolize how Aptos has been gaining more attraction as a decentralized finance (DeFi) hub. Partnership with Aave injects huge liquidity into the ecosystem, generating new and exciting opportunities for developers and users.
A Transformative Milestone for DeFi
This will be the first time that Aave and Aptos testnets are used in conjunction. Consequently, this is the first non-EVM integration for Aave, the pioneering DeFi protocol, which can now enter new blockchain environments while still being one of the front-runners of DeFi applications. On its part, hosting Aave marks the beginning of the establishment of its standing as a significant platform for efficient and scalable solutions in DeFi for Aptos.
While the project is aimed at the mainnet launch, this collaboration opens up a possibility of rewriting the norms of DeFi, combining a robust liquidity capability by Aave with the high-performance infrastructures of Aptos. It is one of those partnerships that sets up further innovation, wider adoption, and deeper institutional involvement.
With Aave pioneering the way into the non-EVM territories and Aptos rising in its DeFi ecosystem, this is the scene for a new era of decentralized finance-that which sees adaptability and fellow collaboration lead the way as fellow residents in fellow blockchain ecosystems.
