Google Cloud’s New Tool Makes Blockchain Dev a Breeze

Google, RPC

Google Cloud announced the launch of its new blockchain RPC (Remote Procedure Call) service
  • Google Cloud’s new RPC tool allows developers to interact with blockchain data using a single line of code, reducing complexity.
  • The service offers a free tier with generous usage limits, making it a more economical option than dedicated nodes.
  • The service is highly scalable and reliable, ensuring that applications can handle growing demand and maintain optimal performance.

Google Cloud announced the launch of its new blockchain RPC (Remote Procedure Call) service which is fully compatible with the Ethereum JSON-RPC. This new service provides developers the ability to interact with blockchain data, offering a cost-effective, scalable, and reliable solution that minimizes the complexities of managing node infrastructure. In its official blog, the software giant stated that it aims to empower developers to build better apps without the hassle of multiple RPC providers.

With Google Cloud’s Blockchain RPC service, we’re bringing our expertise in operating large-scale infrastructure to the Web3 ecosystem, offering a robust backbone for decentralized applications.

One of the key features of the Blockchain RPC service is cost-effectiveness. Developers can enjoy up to 100 requests per second and 1 million requests per day with its free tier, making it a more economical alternative to dedicated nodes. Developers can now easily transition from existing RPC providers by simply changing their RPC endpoints, providing a reliable and scalable backbone.

From NFTs to Mainnet: Google Cloud’s Blockchain Services Expand

Additionally, the service is highly scalable, allowing developers to handle growing request volumes without the need for manual scaling. This ensures that their applications can continue to perform optimally as their user base expands. Currently,  the service launches with support for Ethereum mainnet and testnets, with plans to expand to several additional chains over the next year.

Google’s foray into the blockchain domain is well known. Back in 2022, Google’s cloud division announced that its then-new team would be offering services for developers running blockchain applications. This was revealed by Amit Zavery, vice president at Google Cloud, on May 6th, adding that “the idea is to make the Google Cloud Platform the first choice for developers in the field.”

Furthermore, he also said that Google’s tools are compatible with other computing environments, such as Amazon Web Services. Before that, Google’s cloud unit unveiled a plan for a Digital Assets Team to tap into the NFT market. The firm said it was looking at how customers could make payments with cryptocurrencies. The search engine giant, along with Amazon and Microsoft, forms the big 3 cloud providers.
